A new market research report from Goldman Sachs projects the global commercial drone market will reach $55 billion by 2028, up from $28 billion in 2025. The 25% compound annual growth rate is driven primarily by enterprise adoption in agriculture, construction surveying, infrastructure inspection, and last-mile delivery.
Agriculture remains the largest segment at 32% market share, followed by construction and mining at 24%, and delivery/logistics at 18%. The fastest-growing segment is public safety and emergency response, expanding at 41% CAGR as police, fire, and rescue agencies worldwide integrate drones into standard operations.
Hardware revenue is gradually shifting toward software and services, with data analytics platforms and autonomous fleet management systems commanding higher margins. Chinese manufacturers continue to dominate hardware with 68% global market share, while US and European companies lead in enterprise software solutions.
